My name is Yaya Inaru' ni (Gloria Agosto Otero)
I'm a Mestiza; Taino, Africana, and Gitana.
Singer, drummer, dancer, writer, partera, yerbera who knows the medicine of plants and the power the word.
An artist who uses my voice to elevate our souls in a deep connection to spirit and our own identities.
I specialize in singing the song of my ancestors from my Puerto Rican culture. I bring to this practice a profound respect for what it means to be a part of this powerful ancestry. I see drums as part of the communication between this realm and the spiritual one, and I see singing as being the voice of my ancestors-the ones who couldn't speak. I see revolution and freedom in the culture of each of us.
I see healing and liberation in singing, writing and dancing. As I continue on my own path of liberation, I create artistic spaces so that we may all recognize how powerful we are.
